Hello, my name is Elizabeth Higgins; however, most people call me Liz. I was born and raised outside of Atlantic City, New Jersey. I am nineteen years old and I have always had an interest in science and medicine; however, I have never had the desire to become a doctor. Instead, I have been more interested in helping to better the lives of those who cannot better it themselves.
When I came to this realization, I started researching what my options were. This was when i discovered biomedical engineering. I was instantly interested because it was something that i could see myself doing for the rest of my life.
I am currently a freshman at Drexel University, majoring in biomedical engineering with a concentration in either euro-engineering or biomechanics. I am a volunteer at the Drexel Implant Research Center and I am on track to graduate in June of 2020; however, until then, my hobbies include pokèmon, reading novels and playing with animals.
Jana Smuts
js3943@drexel.edu
Hi, my name is Jana Smuts and I am proudly South African. I was born and raised in Johannesburg, often described as the economic powerhouse of Africa and the largest city in South Africa. I am an avid Formula One, cricket and rugby fan. I love reading, dogs and being up to date on current affairs. I am twenty years old and have always had an interest in helping others.
I have decided to pursue a general engineering major with a pre-med track. I chose the pre-med track specifically because I am so fascinated by the human body and because I would like to understand myself as best as I possibly can. I hope to, one day, use my skills to provide care in developing countries - like my home country - where they are so desperately needed.
Ronald Vitola

Hey! My name is Ronald Vitola, but my friends call me Ronnie. I was born in South Philly and raised just south of the city. Because my family is so tight-knit and all of my relatives live around or in the city, when it came time to pick a college, I knew Philly was the place for me. I also had my heart set on engineering, so Drexel was a perfect fit. I am currently a freshman in the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Department here at Drexel.
Yifan Zhu

Hi, I am Yifan Zhu. I was born in Fuzhou, which is one of the best cities in China. I have been learning piano for more than 17 years because I am really interested in it. I am really excited to come to the United States for university study. It is a very wonderful and valuable place to me. I am currently a freshman majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I am looking forward to learning many interesting things and making more friends from all around the world while I am here.
